Things I'm Checking Out Now 02/17/2019 It's basically summer in Brussels. Clothes-wise everything feels stuffy and musty and last season in the sunlight, but my head is absolutely reeling with all kinds of ideas, which is exhilarating after a very long hibernation: I went out three times this weekend. *exhausted* - All shoes will be repaired I already mentioned this earlier, but I really mean it. I am hopeful that I can store away winter shoes already, but not before they are resoled and polished and packed away. If you can't be

What's Green Enough? 02/12/2019 I spoke to a class of university students the other day. Topic du jour was climate change, climate action policy and communications. Therefore it was not surprising to have the following question come up during the Q & A: - What is green and what is green enough for you? I showed off my full professional capabilities by elegantly ducking the actual question, and instead replied to a question I was prepared to answer. The question from the audience didn't leave my head, though. What's green

Case Study: Cotton Poplin Dresses 02/02/2019 Twas a tough year, January, but what seemed impossible, did finally happen, and we're now firmly into February. February is good. It marks the lunar New Year and the Chinese New Year. I do not have strong feelings for either, but January always is bit of a test case, so I've taken to start my actual New Year in February. As we embark on a new year, some with Marie Kondo, some with dry January and me, with hibernating for one more month before February, one starts craving for freshness. Satin-y

Elevating Everyday 01/08/2019 Judging by the contents of any women's magazine anywhere, we're still OK to talk about New Year/January -related issues. I just posted about what I want to do/have more and less this year. There's another thing I will continue rehearsing: not saving nice things just for special occasions. You know what I mean? Saving the special set of china (yes, middle age) for Christmas and birthdays. Considering certain jewellery to be worn only at weddings and funerals. Drinking wine from any old goblets

More/Less in 2019 01/06/2019 Seems like New Year’s resolutions are passé, which is just as well. Everybody seems to have rolled into 2019 with “more/less” - lists instead. So have I. 2019 is going to be an exciting year as it is - we are likely to know officially who will challenge Trump in next year’s elections. Kardashians will have at least one new baby. No-one will care about Madonna’s alleged butt-implant come February. Also, this year is barely six days down and I’ve already been to Paris to drink extortionately

2019: The Return of Reason? 01/01/2019 Shiny, happy and bright New Year all! I spent Christmas in Scotland, which has been a special place for me since my first visit 30 years ago. I mainly stayed in Edinburgh, where I continued to be impressed by the castle and experienced some weird Christmas magic. Yes, the events can be only described as such. I visited some of the auld hang-outs from when I was at uni and Harry Potter was still just a recently published book. I realised half-way through my jacket potato (beans and cheese) that
